The Pleasant Valley War

One of 12 Westerns made in 12 months during 2020, this film tells the incredible true story of America’s bloodiest family feud. Told through a combination of documentary interviews and traditional Western scenes, The Pleasant Valley War tracks the fallout between the Grahams and Tewksburys which led to a ten year battle and cost up to fifty lives. 

The cast features John Marrs, J.D. Pepper, Todd South, William Carr, and John Schile. 

The Ninth of 12 Westerns: Director’s Note

Like Counting Bullets, The Pleasant Valley War was totally conceived during production on the 12 Westerns. Also like that film, John and I teamed up to write and produce. But this was a very different film and we had even less time and money to put it together, not to mention subject matter that would be best suited for a ten hour mini-series. Honestly, we were in over our heads, both reading books on this bloody feud and cobbling together a cohesive story of the most important events. Somehow with a budget of five thousand dollars and nine days of filming, we pulled it off.
