We are excited to announce that one of our 12 Westerns in 12 Months will be shot on B&W 16mm or 35mm film.

This will be the first time we have produced a feature “film” on actual film stock. Yesterday, we experimented with the form, shooting a short Western titled Two Drifters on a 16mm film camera with B&W stock. This served as a test to prepare us for filming an entire feature on 16 or 35 in 2020. Two Drifters was written by Gus Edwards and myself and also featured us as the characters with an appearance by Ken Ronk. Jared Kovacs, cinematographer for Bastard’s Crossing and Texas Red, shot this short film (pictured below).

The Western feature we plan to make on film stock is titled Frontier, an experimental riff on the genre, a character study of three women with touches of eroticism. The film will start production in the summer of 2020.
